- Fully renovated Customer Briefing Center
- Performance Solutions Center
- New Robotics Lab for R&D
- Expanded Employee Learning Center equipped with robots and medical dispensing equipment
- Executive Dining Room on the first floor
- Upgraded second floor with new carpet, paint, and LED light fixtures
- Lighting control package for the entire building
- Relocated training room to the first floor for more office space
Major Challenges:
- Dealing with 9 key stakeholders and their separate budgets
- Merging drawings from two separate design teams
- Pre-scheduled paid classes and training sessions for Omnicell’s clients
- Phased work to maintain budget and not exceed stakeholder budgets
Solutions:
- Early involvement of the project management team with the client and design teams
- Continuous value engineering and collaboration with key stakeholders
- Weekly design calls and WebEx meetings for effective communication
- Budgeting and RFP due diligence to ensure cost control
- Saving the client over $500K on the overall budget, which is 5 times more than the project management fee
- Weekly calls and multiple site visits for coordination with vendors and clients
Results:
Omnicell’s decision to expand in the Pittsburgh market presented unique challenges; however, the project management team’s experience in the market helped steer the project in the right direction
